Simply turn the machine on an empty cycle and you ll be able to hear whether the pump is working.
The washing machine hose could have a kink obstructing the water flow or the unit could be jammed too close to the wall interfering with water flow through the hose.

How to replace the pump.
Drain hose look to make sure the drain hose is not trapped against the washing machine or otherwise bent or kinked as this can create a drainage obstruction.
The hose that carries water from the back of the machine could be causing it not to drain properly.
The pump is operated by a drive belt that fits around pulleys on the bottom of the washing machine motor.
Another possibility is that the hose could be clogged.
There s a simple way to troubleshoot the washing machine to see if the pump is the reason your washing machine isn t draining.

Clean out any obstructions from the drain hose and place the hose less than 96 inches above the floor as placing it higher can force water back down into the washing machine.
